Notes
Benefit: Dedicated bionic detoxification system implanted between the liver and kidneys as a supplementary filtration stage. +3 to Fortitude saves vs all toxins, poisons, and chemical agents -- this bonus stacks with liver and kidney augments, providing layered defence. The array monitors blood chemistry in real time and can identify and flag unknown compounds for analysis. Twice per day, can trigger 'Emergency Purge' as a standard action to immediately end one poison or drug effect. Reduces the duration of all chemical effects by 50%, stacking multiplicatively with liver augments (total duration reduction of 75% when combined with a bionic or better liver). Grants advantage on checks to identify poisons by their physiological effects.
Install Risk: Medicine DC 18 for mesenteric array implantation. Recipient makes a Fortitude save DC 16 or suffers filtration shock (-2 CON, -1 DEX for 1d4 days as the array's additional blood processing load stresses the cardiovascular system). 3% chance of incompatible rejection if the user has no existing liver or kidney augment -- the array is designed as a supplement, not a standalone system.
Origin: Developed for a Family engineering contractor's hazmat division to handle novel compounds encountered in xenosapient derelicts and old-Earth ruins. The array was later adopted by Legion chemical-hazard teams and by Rim poisoners and chem-runners who value the ability to survive their own product.
Signature: Restricted. Specialist toxicology equipment, Kadiss-tracked. Legal for licensed hazmat workers and military chemical warfare specialists; illegal for civilians in most Confederation jurisdictions without a medical waiver.
Strain: Moderate. Requires monthly filter membrane replacement -- the array catches everything, including beneficial compounds, and the filters saturate quickly. Users must be careful with medication dosing; the array may scrub therapeutic drugs before they take effect (GM discretion for time-sensitive medications). The array adds 15% to the cardiovascular system's total workload -- users with existing heart strain suffer an additional -1 to fatigue-related Constitution checks.
