Notes
Benefit: Writable memory slab grafted to the hippocampus that can hold one recorded scene or skill-experience at a time. Once per long rest you may record a single 10-minute observation (a face, a route, a code phrase, a procedure). On a Knowledge or Profession check where the recorded material applies, gain a +4 insight bonus. The slab is single-slot; a new record overwrites the old. Moderate benefit level.
Install Risk: Medicine DC 16 for the hippocampal seat. Recipient makes a Fortitude save DC 13 or gains Botched Implant: memory bleed, false recollections flagged as true for 1d4 days until a Medicine DC 14 reset.
Origin: Confederation Intelligence auxiliary staff, Families private-investigation houses, and Core legal counsel who need to remember a deposition verbatim.
Signature: Tracked. Licensed wetware with built-in grid time-stamping; the slab logs record-write events to the Kadiss grid for forensic use.
Strain: The lattice blurs adjacent memories. -1 to Lore checks unrelated to the recorded material for 1 hour after a record-write (the hippocampus re-stabilising). Recorders older than 1 year degrade; a check involving a stale record loses 1 point of bonus per year of age, no bonus after 5.
