Notes
Benefit: Prefrontal-cortex multiplexer that lets the carrier maintain two simultaneous task-tracks. Once per round, you may take a minor action in addition to your standard action (the second action must be one a free action could not already cover, e.g. a swift power activation, a swift drink of a stim, a swift feat). You also gain a +2 bonus to Perception checks to notice peripheral events (someone approaching from behind, a side conversation in a crowd). Moderate benefit level.
Install Risk: Medicine DC 17 for the prefrontal seat. Recipient makes a Fortitude save DC 14 or gains Botched Implant: split attention, -1 to all tasks that require concentration (Piloting, Fold Theory, Knowledge) until a Medicine DC 15 reset.
Origin: Confederation Navy flight-deck controllers, Houses retainer-house operations chiefs who juggle two contracts, and Ironball arena stewards managing live combat.
Signature: Tracked. Restricted to Houses operations staff, Confederation Navy pilots, and licensed Legion command. Civilian versions log every multiplexed second-action to the grid.
Strain: Multiplexing has a ceiling. You cannot multiplex while Flat-Footed or Surprised (the surprise round nullifies the second action). After 10 minutes of continuous multiplexing, Fortitude DC 13 or take -1 to mental actions for 10 minutes (the cortex re-merges). Multiplexing during a fear effect stacks the penalty (Fear plus split attention).
