Notes
Benefit: Auditory-cortex and Broca's-area splice that translates up to six registered languages in real time, with a 1-round lag for idiomatic phrases. You speak and understand the six loaded languages as if you had 4 ranks in Linguistics, and you may attempt a Linguistics check (no auto-success) for an un-loaded tongue with a +2 insight bonus from context-glossing. Splice slots are field-swappable with a 10-minute procedure and a Kadiss-licensed translator bench. Moderate benefit level.
Install Risk: Medicine DC 16 for the dual-lobe splice. Recipient makes a Fortitude save DC 13 or gains Botched Implant: speech bleed, idioms from one loaded language leak into another for 1d4 days at -2 to Diplomacy until a Medicine DC 14 retune.
Origin: Confederation diplomatic attaches, Houses retainer-house trade envoys, and Ironball commentary booths covering multi-lingual fights.
Signature: Tracked. Diplomatic and corporate wetware, restricted in the Core to commissioned staff. The grid logs every language slot swap.
Strain: Six languages, six DRM trails. Each loaded language phones home to the grid when spoken in proximity to a registered Argus node; a 10-minute conversation in three languages logs three grid events. The splice stutters under pain; -2 to translation accuracy while at less than half HP or while Staggered.
