Notes
Benefit: Titanium-rod-and-servo spine that absorbs and dampens weapon recoil through the carrier's frame. +2 to all attack rolls with two-handed shoulder-fired weapons (heavy slug rifles, charge rifles, magnetic accelerators) and you ignore the -2 penalty for firing a heavy weapon from the prone position. The frame also halves the Strength requirement for heavy weapons (round down, minimum 10). Moderate benefit level.
Install Risk: Medicine DC 18 for the spinal rod-and-servo seat, with one week of recovery. Recipient makes a Fortitude save DC 15 or gains Botched Implant: servo fault, -2 to attack rolls with two-handed weapons until a Mechanics DC 16 reset. Failure by 5+ locks the spine for 1d4 days at -4 Dexterity.
Strain: Heavy and metal. -1 to Stealth (the servos emit a faint hydraulic click when fired), -2 to Swim, and the rod shows on med-scanners. The frame runs warm; -1 to Fortitude saves vs fire and plasma (stacks with mesh). Monthly Mechanics DC 11 service or the recoil bonus drops to +1 until serviced.
