Notes
Benefit: Visual-cortex co-processor that overlays a moving targeting reticule inside the carrier's perception. +1 to ranged attack rolls, +2 to called shots, and you ignore the -2 penalty for firing into melee when your target is the melee combatant you are aiming at (the reticule picks them out). Stacks with the Mark-IV Targeting Ocular benefit for a combined total, not the higher. Moderate benefit level.
Install Risk: Medicine DC 17 for the visual-cortex seat. Recipient makes a Fortitude save DC 14 or gains Botched Implant: reticule snow, -2 to ranged attacks and -2 to Perception checks involving detail for 1d4 days until a Medicine DC 15 reset.
Origin: Core Marine marksman cadres, Confederation Navy boarding sharpshooters, and Houses private security on restricted estates.
Signature: Tracked. Military-restricted. Legion and Confederation Marine issue; possession without commission is a serious Core offence.
Strain: Visual-cortex load. After 4 rounds of continuous combat the carrier takes a -1 to ranged attacks from reticule drift until 1 full round passes without firing. Glare or flash effects (treat as bright sunlight, searchlights, plasma flash) impose an additional -2 to ranged attacks on top of any other penalty. If the carrier already has a Targeting Ocular installed, the wetware occasionally double-images targets; Fortitude DC 12 or take -1 to Perception in low-light until tuned.
