Bounty Hunter

Bounty professional and tracker.

The Bounty Hunter is the person who finds the people who do not want to be found. In the Nine's corporatocracy, debts are assets and debtors are inventory. When a contracted worker flees, when a corporate scientist defects with proprietary data, when a Legion Deserter takes their issued weapons across the Rim, the Bounty Hunter is the accounts-receivable department with a gun and a skip-tracer license. The Kadiss grid is their primary tool: biometric logs, transit records, identity verifications, and the thousand digital breadcrumbs that every person leaves when they move through a civilised system. A good Bounty Hunter reads the grid the way a tracker reads footprints. They operate on the Edge chassis with Warrior durability -- d8 HD, 3/4 BAB, light and medium armour -- because the job requires surviving the chase and the confrontation. Reflex good for the pursuit; Will good for the interrogation; Fortitude poor because the lifestyle runs on stim-packs and missed meals.

Notes

Archetype Niche: Target acquisition and capture specialist. The Bounty Hunter tracks a single target across star systems, subdues them non-lethally, and delivers them alive. Their niche is the hunt itself -- investigation, pursuit, and takedown -- not general combat or social manipulation. They bring a target back when no one else can find them.

Multiclass Notes: Bounty Hunters can multiclass with Operative and Soldier archetypes. Non-human bounty hunters use simultaneous multiclassing rules.

Special Abilities

Track Prey

FieldValue
level1
nameTrack Prey

description: Tracking is a class skill. Gain +2 to Tracking checks. By spending 1 hour studying a target's trail, personal effects, or data log, the Bounty Hunter gains +2 to all Perception, Tracking, and Streetwise checks to locate that specific target for 24 hours. This is not instinct; this is method. The Bounty Hunter reads Kadiss transit logs, analyses purchase records, maps the target's habits and predicts their next move. The trail always exists; the question is whether the Hunter can read it before it goes cold.

Non-Lethal Takedown

FieldValue
level3
nameNon-Lethal Takedown

description: Gain +2 to attack rolls with stun weapons, net-launchers, and tranq-guns. Non-lethal damage dealt ignores half of the target's damage reduction. Restraints (cuffs, mag-locks) can be applied to a stunned or helpless target as a free action. A dead bounty is worth a fraction of a live one; the Bounty Hunter's rek-per-shot ratio depends on bringing targets back breathing. The non-lethal bonus is not mercy -- it is economics.

Favoured Quarry

FieldValue
level5
nameFavoured Quarry

description: Designate a Favoured Quarry: a specific individual, a species, or a faction. Gain +1 attack and +1d4 damage against the quarry. After capturing or killing the current quarry, a new one can be designated with 24 hours of research. The quarry designation is a contract -- the Bounty Hunter knows their target's face, their habits, their weak points. This is the ability that turns a generalist tracker into a specialist killer: the Hunter who has been studying Rim pirate crews for three contracts knows exactly how they move, where they hide, and what makes them break.
