The Investigator is the corp's licensed searcher. They are the person the security division calls when an asset is missing and the official channels need to produce a name, a paper trail, and a confession. The Investigator is not the police; they are the function the police would fill if the police existed in a system that books people as capital. Their file is open on the Kadiss because the Investigator's value rises with their visibility -- the suspect who knows the Investigator is on the case is a suspect who has started making mistakes.
The Investigator's job is to turn messy reality into structured proof. A crime scene is not a story; it is a record of what happened, and the Investigator reads records the way the Engineer reads schematics. Case File is the formal method: open a case, gather the clues, close it. The case closes because the truth is on file, and the truth is on file because the Investigator will not stop looking until it is.
Interrogation is the second half of the work: the suspect who thinks they have buried the evidence has not buried their body language. Forensic Analysis reads what the scene remembered when the participants thought nobody was watching: the temperature differential that says a body was moved, the residue that says a specific weapon was fired, the manufacturing mark that says a specific forge.
Operating on the operative chassis (d6 HD, 3/4 BAB, Ref good, Fort/Will poor). Light armour, pistol, knife, stun-baton -- the sidearms of a person who expects trouble but tries not to start it. INT and WIS primes: the mind that reads pattern and the patience that does not blink.

Notes
Archetype Niche: The Investigator is the party's truth engine. Case File turns mystery-solving from GM fiat into a structured mechanic with clear progression (3 clues → 2 → 1) and tangible rewards (insight bonus at 15). Interrogation provides reliable social information extraction with scaling efficiency. Forensic Analysis enables post-hoc scene reconstruction -- the Investigator can walk into a room and tell you what happened there. The Investigator's niche is solving problems through information: they find the plot, reveal the conspirator, and build the case.

Case File
description: Open a Case File on any mystery, crime, or question. While open: +3 to Perception, Tracking, and Bureaucracy related to the case. Close by accumulating 3 Clues (skill checks, interrogation, evidence analysis). At level 5, 2 Clues. At level 10, 1 Clue (the Investigator sees the truth others miss). At level 15, closure grants the party a permanent +1 insight bonus to all checks against the revealed perpetrator until brought to justice. The case closes because the truth is on file, and the truth is on file because the Investigator will not stop looking.

Interrogation
description: Conduct an interrogation: 10 minutes per question, opposed check (Investigator Intimidation or Persuasion vs target Deception or Will save; Investigator +3). Success: truthful information. Critical success (succeed by 5+): information the target did not know they knew (subconscious details, forgotten observations). At level 8, rapid interrogation (1 minute per question) once per day. At level 14, critical success breaks the target's will entirely (target becomes Helpful, volunteers additional information unprompted). The suspect who thinks they have buried the evidence has not buried their body language.
Forensic Analysis

Forensic Analysis
description: Analyse a crime scene, piece of evidence, or technical trace with a Perception or appropriate Lore check (GM-set DC). Success: reconstruct the last 1 minute of events (who, what, in what order). At level 10, 10 minutes. At level 15, 1 hour plus identify one trace (DNA, residue, manufacturing mark) that directly names a suspect. At level 20, up to 24 hours. The scene remembered what the participants thought nobody was watching.
