The character is the person you call when two powers that
hate each other must be in the same room. The character gains
+4 to Persuasion checks made against members of factions that
are openly hostile to one of the character's other allied
factions. Once per session, the character may declare a
'Smooth Over': the character may retroactively apply a
successful Persuasion check (DC 20) to a cross-faction
encounter that went wrong, reducing the consequences by one
step (e.g., 'arrest' to 'detention', 'declaration of war' to
'recall of ambassador').

Notes
Special: Stacks with Grand Diplomat. The Smooth Over does not undo physical consequences (a character cannot un-break a bone), only political/procedural ones. The character must have been present at the encounter. Does not work if the player has already made an irrevocable choice (e.g., killed a faction leader).
