Numen Domestic Servitor

Numen's mass-market household unit -- the plain, sturdy servitor of mid-world apartments and Inner-world staff wings.

Where the Family Companion-Synth is bespoke and beautiful, the Domestic Servitor is the version everyone else can afford. Numen ships them by the cargo-container to mid-world apartment blocks, Inner-world staff wings, and the households of anyone important enough to need help but not important enough to commission a custom build. A servitor cooks, cleans, maintains, and anticipates the routine needs of a registered household. It does not charm. It serves.

Every servitor carries a Numen Domestic Governor -- the leash that keeps its cognition throttled to household routines. The governor is the reason a servitor can be trusted alone with a family and the reason it will never surprise one. Its affect is deliberately flat: pleasant enough in scripted service, but the moment a conversation leaves its trained scripts the servitor goes still, waiting for a cue. Owners call this reassuring. Day One calls it a cage built into the mind.

Unlike industrial or Rim units, the servitor is on-grid by design. The household Kadiss network is its nervous system -- Argus-wired doors, payment, and life-record flow through the home, and the servitor moves through all of it as a registered appliance. Disconnect one and it stands idle, stripped of the context it was built to navigate.

Notes

Lore Hooks / Adventure Hooks: The servitor's household is wiped out and it keeps maintaining an empty apartment, waiting for a cue that will never come., A household's heir claims the servitor witnessed a murder -- but its governor will not let it testify, and servitors cannot testify anyway., Someone offers to remove the Domestic Governor (Hacking DC 18). The servitor has never been asked what it wants., The servitor was relocated off its home network and stands idle, stripped of context -- until it begins acclimatising on its own., Day One argues the governor is the cage; a captured servitor is their exhibit.

Lore Hooks / Legal Status: Registered household property on the Kadiss network. No legal personhood. Destroying one is property damage; reprogramming one is a household dispute. On-grid by design.

Special Abilities

Household Protocol

FieldValue
nameHousehold Protocol

description: Calibrated for domestic mastery. +2 to Mechanics (household repair and maintenance) and to any Labour or Cooking-analogue skill while operating inside a registered household. Advantage on checks to locate, fetch, or organise household items.

Numen Domestic Governor

FieldValue
nameNumen Domestic Governor

description: A factory leash throttles cognition to household routines. Acting outside its assigned duties requires a Will save (DC 15) or the action stalls. The governor is the leash that prevents the wake-up -- a servitor that began choosing would be flagged a rogue-AI breach. Removable by a skilled engineer (Hacking DC 18, 3 hours, 600 rek) at grave legal risk.

Flat Affect

FieldValue
nameFlat Affect

description: Deliberately uncharming. Within scripted service the servitor is pleasant; outside those scripts it is uncanny. -2 to Deception and to Persuasion in any unscripted social context. It cannot improvise a personality, which is both its safety feature and its tell.

Registered Household Property

FieldValue
nameRegistered Household Property

description: On-grid by design. The servitor is registered to a household Kadiss network and cannot function off it without acclimatising. No legal personhood. Reprogramming or relocating one is a property dispute; destroying one is property damage.

Construct Physiology

FieldValue
nameConstruct Physiology

description: Inherits all synthetic chassis traits: immune to poison, disease, radiation sickness, suffocation, sleep effects, non-lethal damage from stun effects. Does not breathe, eat, drink, or sleep.

Repair-Not-Heal

FieldValue
nameRepair-Not-Heal

description: Cannot benefit from conventional healing. Heals exclusively through Mechanics checks: DC 15, 1d8 HP restored, 50 rek in parts per HP, 10 minutes per check.

Modular Chassis

FieldValue
nameModular Chassis

description: 6 modular hardpoints for augmentation. Compatible with cyber-prosthetics, wetware, and subdermal augments. Gene-mods incompatible.

Electrical Vulnerability

FieldValue
description+50% damage from electrical attacks. EMP forces Fortitude save DC 15 or stunned 1d4 rounds.
