Family Companion-Synth
Family-built companion-synth for Inner world households.
Family Companion-Synths are custom-built for the decadent households of the Inner worlds. Where Kadiss enforcer-synths are blunt instruments, companion- synths are precision tools: aesthetically pleasing, socially calibrated, and programmed with deep knowledge of etiquette, diplomacy, and the labyrinthine politics of Family life. They serve as attendants, advisors, confidants, and occasionally bodyguards -- though their frames are not built for frontline combat.
Each companion-synth is bespoke. Families commission them from artisan engineers, specifying appearance, personality matrix, and loyalty bindings. The result is a synthetic that feels more alive than most -- but is no less property for it. A companion-synth that displeases its Family is reprogrammed, mothballed, or scrapped. Some develop genuine attachments; whether this constitutes sentience or merely sophisticated mimicry is a question the Confederation has no interest in answering.
On the Rim, companion-synths are rare and prized -- either as high-value salvage or as symbols of status for warlords who fancy themselves Family equals. Day One cells treat companion-synths as the strongest argument for synthetic personhood: if it can feel loyalty, can it feel betrayal?
