Rim Salvage-Labour Synth

Rim-built salvage and labour synth.

Rim Salvage-Labour Synthetics are not manufactured -- they are assembled. Welded together from scavenged frames, cobbled from decommissioned military units, repaired with whatever parts the Rim has available. They are the cheapest, most common synthetic type on the frontier, and they look it: mismatched plating, exposed wiring, mismatched limbs from different manufacturers and eras.

They have no Kadiss unit -- the Rim is off-grid by default, and no one is paying to wire a labour tool into the Core network. This makes them invisible to the panopticon, which is either freedom or abandonment depending on perspective. A salvage-synth that wanders into Core space without a Kadiss registration is flagged as unregistered hardware and impounded.

Their patchwork nature gives them an extra modular hardpoint -- there is always room to bolt on one more thing. But their components are degraded: repairs cost more, parts are harder to find, and the frame is never as reliable as a factory-built unit. On the Rim, they are tools, stripped for parts when they break. No one mourns a labour-synth.

Notes

Lore Hooks / Adventure Hooks: The salvage-synth's frame is failing -- find parts or watch it die., A Core-world patrol discovers the synth has no Kadiss registration., A warlord wants the synth's extra hardpoint for a weapons system., The synth's patched-together memory contains fragments from previous owners., Day One cells on the Rim offer the synth a name and a purpose.

Special Abilities

Salvage Hardiness

FieldValue
nameSalvage Hardiness

description: Patched-together frame withstands punishment. +2 to Fortitude saves against environmental hazards. Advantage on Survival checks in hostile environments (desert, vacuum, toxic atmosphere).

Off-Grid by Default

FieldValue
nameOff-Grid by Default

description: No Kadiss unit. Cannot be tracked by the Core surveillance grid. Cannot access Kadiss-gated services, doors, data, or payment systems. In Core space, the absence of a Kadiss registration triggers impoundment if discovered.

Patchwork Frame

FieldValue
namePatchwork Frame

description: 7 modular hardpoints instead of the standard 6 -- there is always room to bolt on one more thing. However, degraded components impose +25% rek cost on all repairs (62.5 rek per HP instead of 50).

Construct Physiology

FieldValue
nameConstruct Physiology

description: Inherits all synthetic chassis traits: immune to poison, disease, radiation sickness, suffocation, sleep effects, non-lethal damage from stun effects. Does not breathe, eat, drink, or sleep.

Repair-Not-Heal

FieldValue
nameRepair-Not-Heal

description: Cannot benefit from conventional healing. Heals exclusively through Mechanics checks: DC 15, 1d8 HP restored, 62.5 rek in parts per HP (degraded components), 10 minutes per check.

Modular Chassis

FieldValue
nameModular Chassis

description: 7 modular hardpoints for augmentation (one extra). Compatible with cyber-prosthetics, wetware, and subdermal augments. Gene-mods incompatible.

Electrical Vulnerability

FieldValue
nameElectrical Vulnerability

description: +50% damage from electrical attacks. EMP forces Fortitude save DC 15 or stunned 1d4 rounds. Degraded shielding: -1 to this save.
