+4 defend Hacking attempts; reroute one intrusion/round; ignore first layer + Firewall Breach.
The character is a specialist in system hardening, able
to defend networks and devices against intrusion. When
defending against a Hacking attempt, the character gains
+4 to their Computers check. Once per round, when an
intrusion succeeds, the character may reroute the
intrusion as a reaction: the intruder is shunted to a
decoy subsystem and gains no access to the protected
system (they must start over, applying a fresh Hacking
check from scratch). The character ignores the first
firewall layer bypassed by Firewall Breach (the
defending system always has at least 2 layers).
Special: The reroute works only if the protected system has a decoy subsystem configured (the character must set it up in advance, 1 hour of work). If no decoy is configured, the reroute fails and the intrusion succeeds normally. The extra firewall layer is a passive defense that ensures Firewall Breach's auto-bypass does not expose the system fully; at least 1 layer remains after the auto-bypass. Stacks with Cyber-Warfare Suite's +2 hacking defense (different checks). The character can take 20 on Computers defense checks in low-pressure situations.
