Thread Reader

+4 Perception to detect ambush; once/day auto-detect one trap or surprise round.

The character is a thread reader who senses Fold-echoes of fate. The character gains +4 to Perception checks to detect ambushes, traps, hidden enemies, and surprise attacks. Once per day, as a free action before initiative is rolled, the character may declare Thread Reader: if a trap, ambush, or surprise round is about to occur, the character automatically detects it (no roll required) and may warn allies with a 1-sentence cryptic utterance, granting all allies +2 to their next save against the surprise.

Notes

Combat Action / Effect Script Id: Thread Reader

Special: Requires Fold Threshold (Psion archetype or Fold psion) OR the Psionic Gene trait. The auto-detect does not reveal WHAT the threat is, only THAT one exists -- the character receives a vague feeling of wrongness. The +2 to allies' next save is against any save triggered by the threat (e.g., trap Reflex save, mental save vs. surprise power). The character must be conscious and aware to declare the use. Stacks with Precognition power's re-roll mechanic.
