Latent Helix-Psion

A latent gene-psion marker: a thread of telepathy or illusion, heritable, and flaggable on any gene-scan.

A gene-psion marker that breeds true: a faint, heritable psionic talent, usually surfacing as a thread of surface telepathy or a flicker of single-sense illusion. It is not the trained power of a full Psion -- it is a leak, a spark, enough to send a thought or bend a perception for a breath. It is also a signature, and every gene-scan in the Core lights up on it.

Notes

Effect Text: Once per day, project a short telepathic thought to one mind within 30 ft (target resists with a save vs. the bearer's level-based DC; willing targets auto-accept) OR manifest a single-sense retinal-cast lasting 1 round within 15 ft. Requires WIS 12+.

Lore Note: Helix's Spires produce this marker deliberately for Navigator-adjacent and psion-adjacent stock, and the running complication is the scan: a Kith noble's scheduled longevity top-up is exactly how these markers get logged against the bearer's will, and the House usually wants the record suppressed. The marker is common enough to be routine and rare enough to be watched, and bearers learn early that their talent is also their file.
