Rim-Pattern Leathers
Salvage-hide leathers reinforced with industrial scrap; the Rim default.
Rim-Pattern Leathers are not so much a manufactured product as a tradition. Clan tanners take whatever cured hide they can source -- slaught-beast, indigenous megafauna, or off-world bovine shipped in as ballast -- and laminate it with whatever flexible scrap they can weld, glue, or stitch into the weave: motor pads, conveyor belting, Vacuum-formed polymer offcuts. The result is a layered hide-and-scrap jacket-and-trouser set that shrugs off blades, claws, and slow-moving rounds. No two sets are identical, and a veteran Rim fighter's leathers often carry visible patches from a dozen different kills and repairs. Cheap, durable, and easily repaired in the field with a knife and a scrap of wire. Tradeoff is weight and heat retention; fighting in them on a humid Jungle world is miserable.
