Meridian Exchange DS-1 Data-Slate
Universal low-cost data-slate for commerce, notes, and trade records
The Meridian DS-1 is the cheapest data-slate the Exchange will license: a thin slate the size of a hand, industrial-grade plastics, 16-hour battery, no encryption, full Kadiss-link for commerce and trade-record use. It is the universal bookkeeping tool of Core and Rim alike, carried by traders, prospectors, junior corp staff, and crew on every ship that does not need hardened encryption. The DS-1 is the device that makes the unconnected economy legible, because a merchant running dark plugs a DS-1 into a public Kadiss terminal to settle, then unplugs and walks. Lost DS-1s are anonymous-payment devices until re-registered.
