Helix Dermaseal Wound Sealant

Hydrogel wound sealant; stops bleeding and prevents infection.

Dermaseal is the verse's answer to a bandage: a bio-polymer hydrogel that bonds to damaged tissue, seals open wounds, and releases antibiotics and coagulants directly into the injury site. Squeeze the applicator, spray the gel, and within seconds it hardens into a flexible, breathable seal that holds the wound closed and fights infection for 48 hours. It is not surgery -- Dermaseal cannot repair torn muscles, reconnect severed vessels, or set bones -- but it stops the immediate threat of bleeding out and contamination, which is enough in most field situations. Helix sells Dermaseal in packs of three; the applicators are small enough to fit in a pocket and cheap enough that even Rim scavengers can afford a pack. The gel is clear when applied and turns dark red as it absorbs blood, which medics use as a visual indicator of wound severity: if the sealant is black, the patient needs more than Dermaseal.

Notes

Effect: Removes the 'bleeding' condition on a DC 8 Medicine check (the sealant does most of the work). Seals minor burns and prevents infection in open wounds for 48 hours. Heals 1d6 HP from wound closure. Cannot treat deep tissue damage, fractures, or internal injuries. Single-use per wound; each applicator treats one wound site.
