Legion FM-3 Field Autodoc Pod

Standard Legion field autodoc; stabilises and performs trauma surgery, but no augmentation capability.

The FM-3 is the Legion's standard-issue field medical pod, a coffin-sized unit carried aboard every Legion dropship and forward operating base. Four manipulator arms guided by an expert-system trauma library can clamp arteries, suture organs, set bones, and administer anaesthesia without a human surgeon's hands on the controls. The FM-3 excels at what the Legion calls 'meat repair': keeping soldiers alive long enough to reach a proper surgical suite. It cannot install augmentations -- that capability was deliberately excluded by Legion procurement to prevent field medics from going into the aug-trade. The pod runs on a standard Legion power cell (12-hour active life) and requires a 10-minute minimum diagnostic cycle before operating. In practice, Legion medics load casualties and let the FM-3 do the cutting while they triage the next patient. Standard aboard Legion corvettes and frigates; rare on the Rim, where black-clinic operators would pay dearly for one.

Notes

Effect: Stabilises dying patients automatically (DC 0 Medicine check to stabilise when patient is loaded). Assists surgery: grants +4 bonus to Medicine checks for wound repair, organ stabilisation, and trauma surgery. Cannot install augmentations. Auto-diagnoses conditions: bleeding, fractures, internal damage, toxin exposure. Sounds alarm on conditions it cannot treat (Fold-taint, unknown xenobiology).
