The Aegis Mk.I is not a product; it is a prototype that escaped the lab. Asset Realisation developed the Aegis for its highest-value asset protection details, the teams that guard the Ledger's person and the Core infrastructure that keeps civilisation moving. The field it generates is dense enough to absorb heavy weapon fire and self-adjusts its geometry to concentrate protection against the primary threat axis, a feature no commercial barrier can replicate. The capacitor is prototype-grade, self-sustaining beyond normal power constraints, which is exactly the kind of technology AR does not share. The catch is the overload risk: the prototype capacitor is not fully stabilised, and under sustained heavy fire there is a small but real chance of catastrophic field collapse, feedback that injures the wearer, and a capacitor breach that ruins everyone's day. Every Aegis is tracked by Asset Realisation; wearing one makes you a line item on the Ledger whether you signed up for it or not.
