Legion-Issue Type-3 Riot Shield
Armoured physical riot shield; cheap, reliable, no power dependency.
The Type-3 Riot Shield is the Legion's standard crowd-control and breaching shield: a slab of layered composite armour mounted on a forearm brace. No emitters, no cells, no failure modes beyond being physically destroyed. The Type-3 stops slug rounds, absorbs melee impacts, and provides cover for a second operator advancing behind the shield-bearer. Its weakness is simplicity: it covers the front only, weighs enough to slow the operator, and once cracked or perforated, it is done. Legion riot squads and PMC suppression teams deploy the Type-3 in formation; on the Rim, warlords clone the design from salvaged originals, because a shield that never runs out of power is exactly what you want when your supply chain is a junkyard.

Drawbacks: no recharge; damaged shields must be repaired or replaced, front-only coverage; flanking and rear attacks bypass entirely, occupies one hand; cannot use two-handed weapons while deployed, heavy (9kg); fatiguing over extended operations
