Legion Testudo Mk.II Boarding Shield
Hybrid physical-plate and energy-layer boarding shield; Legion void-marine standard for corridor assault.
The Testudo Mk.II is the Legion's answer to the corridor problem: a physical composite plate backed by a low-profile energy absorption layer, designed to integrate directly with Legion boarding armour. The physical plate stops the first wave of fire; the energy layer soaks residual kinetic transfer and bleeds off thermal damage from beam and plasma hits. Together they give the boarding operator a survivability window that neither system provides alone. The Testudo is heavy, slow, and demands a second operator to cover the rear, which is why Legion boarding doctrine always works in pairs. The energy layer recharges slowly from the suit's reactor, meaning the shield recovers between contacts but cannot keep up with sustained fire. Restricted to Legion and approved PMC units; the Rim sees knockoffs built from scrap plate and jury-rigged emitters, but the integration with boarding armour is the part they cannot replicate.

Notes
Drawbacks: heavy (12kg); integrated with Legion boarding armour, not standalone, slow recharge; energy layer supplements physical plate, not a fast-cycle barrier, occupies one hand; sidearm only while deployed, front-only; boarding actions demand a second operator covering the rear, restricted to Legion and approved PMC units
