Meridian Panopticon Energy Buckler
Compact forearm energy buckler with fast recharge but tiny coverage window.
The Panopticon buckler is Meridian's duellist shield: a forearm-mounted emitter that projects a small, dense energy disc in a 90-degree arc. What it lacks in coverage it compensates with recharge speed, cycling between hits fast enough to absorb repeated light fire in the same encounter. The buckler is popular with Core private security and duellists who value mobility over bulk: it does not slow you down, does not occupy your hand, and with practice you can snap it into the path of incoming fire on reflex. The limitation is geometry: anything outside the 90-degree arc hits you unshielded, and a single heavy weapon hit will collapse the disc entirely until the next cycle. Think of it as a parrying tool, not a bunker.

Notes
Drawbacks: very small coverage area; must actively orient toward threat, low total soak; a single heavy hit can overwhelm it, rapid drain on the cell under sustained fire
