Meridian PB-1 Personal Barrier
Entry-level personal energy barrier; light, legal, ubiquitous on Core worlds.
The Meridian PB-1 is the most common civilian personal barrier on the market: a slim belt-mounted emitter that throws a translucent energy shell around the wearer's torso. Designed for corporate workers, off-duty security, and anyone who wants more than nothing between them and a stray round. The PB-1 absorbs a modest amount of kinetic and energy damage before the field collapses and the cell needs to cycle. Cheap enough that Core insurance plans subsidise it; light enough that most people forget they are wearing it until it saves their life. The field flickers and hums faintly under sustained fire, which is either reassuring or terrifying depending on your outlook.
