Rim-pattern C-Beam Cutter
Jury-rigged continuous-beam cutter; a salvage tool pressed into combat service.
The Rim-pattern C-Beam Cutter is a weapon born of necessity: industrial cutting tools salvaged from wrecks and shipyards, rebuilt by Rim gunsmiths into something that can be carried and fired as a personal weapon. The continuous-beam principle is sound, but the execution varies wildly depending on the components available. Some Rim c-beam cutters are surprisingly effective; others are barely functional fire hazards. All share the c-beam's characteristic sustained burn and the Rim's characteristic unreliability. On the frontier, where a working c-beam cutter costs less than a meal and a charge cell, beggars cannot be choosers.
