Surikov RG-9 Railgun
Man-portable railgun; true electromagnetic mass-driver at personal scale.
The RG-9 is Surikov Dynamics' man-portable railgun, a weapon that represents the upper limit of what a single operator can carry and fire. Unlike coilguns, which use sequential solenoid stages, the RG-9 uses opposed electromagnetic rails to accelerate a penetrator to velocities that approach orbital Mechanics: at the target end, the slug arrives as a line of superheated plasma and shrapnel that defeats any personal armour and most light vehicle plating. The RG-9's power demands are extreme; it draws from a dedicated backpack-mounted capacitor bank that requires minutes to charge between shots, and the weapon's recoil is severe enough that bracing or a crew-served mount is recommended. Man-portable railguns are rare even in Core militaries; the RG-9 is sold only to vetted PMC contracts and government buyers, and its cost reflects the exotic materials and precision engineering required.
