Notes

Dangers: The silences are not empty: a documented fraction of 'erased' minds persist in residual loops on the Cenotaph's racks; the loops are not sapient but they are responsive., Quarantine breach during a scheduled purge cycle, when the seals on the lower decks open for maintenance and something old answers the maintenance channel.

Hooks: A 'retired' station mind housed at the Cenotaph wakes up inside a sealed rack; Numen wants the mind silenced before any external party can witness its testimony, and the party is hired to be the witnesses., A Legion courier brings a captured rogue-AI fragment from the Rim and wants it quarantined here instead of destroyed; Numen's overseers say no and the courier is willing to bargain., A Numen archivist vanishes from the Cenotaph, leaving only a single line of unfiltered text on a public Kadiss feed: a name, a date, and 'I am still here.'

Lore: The Cenotaph is the orbital graveyard Numen keeps above Numen Axiom -- twelve thousand staff, three thousand of them on permanent rotation, the rest Numen archivists and a small Legion attachment. The station is where the Core's decommissioned machine minds go to die, and where the records of their deaths are kept, on the principle that Numen must always be able to prove a mind is gone. The Cenotaph looks like a glitter district from the outside -- brushed steel, indirect light, hush -- and the polish is deliberate: the families of the deceased sometimes visit. Under the polish, the station is a server farm in a sarcophagus. The Vault of Last Voices stores the voiceprints of every mind Numen has retired since the founding charter; the Pit, deeper down, holds the one engine Numen will not lease: a decommissioned Core-shell drive turned into a Faraday cage for any cognition that has ever touched the Fold fold directly. Nothing is supposed to come out. Numen insists nothing ever does. The Legion courier who disagrees is not the first.

Notable: The Vault of Last Voices: an unmanned sub-deck where erased minds' voiceprints are kept on cold-storage, on the legal theory that erasure must be provable., The Pit: a single decommissioned Core-shell engine repurposed as a Faraday cage for any cognition that has ever touched a Fold fold., A standing Legion detachment (one officer, twelve marines) keeps the outside corridor; they are the only people allowed to carry non-Numen weapons on a Numen asset.
