Notes

Controlling Faction: Independent

Dangers: The jungle fights back: every bend has its own predator, parasite, or Fold-fed mimic; sensor packages are unreliable in the canopy and the river mud., Local cartel law is enforced from armed patrol boats; trade disputes are adjudicated upstream with mounted guns., Day One recruiters move quietly through the villages; turning one in is a cartographic problem, not a moral one.

Hooks: Run a Confed supply barge upriver through Bend Cataract under cartel guns, and decide whose manifest to lose when the barge runs aground., A Legion survey team went quiet at a downstream bend; recover the survey recorder and the team's head before the jungle finishes with either., A Day One cell is fermenting in the river villages; the cartel at Bend Mouth wants it burned out, the Legion at Velt Camp wants it studied.

Lore: Ghala Bend is a long river war on a Rim world where the jungle and the Fold feed each other. The river is the only navigable artery; the canopy swallows every other route, so trade, war, and pilgrimage all happen on the water, and every bend is its own frontier. The biosphere is unusually psy-resonant because dense plant and animal life presses against a thin LaGrange Core presence, producing recurrent Fold bleed. Every clearing and river village keeps its own catalogue of what came out of the trees. The Legion forward base at Velt Camp exists because the river exports a rare bio-reagent; its Rek price funds the local cartel's gunboats. The downship corvette at Silt Monument is a relic of the last Confederation pacification attempt and a warning to anyone considering another. Ghala Bend cannot be controlled; it can only be tolerated.

Notable: A river-veined jungle world, breathable air, choking canopy. The river system runs seven thousand kilometres from the Bend Mouth delta to the Bend Crown highlands; colonial settlements cling to the banks in chains, separated by impassable green between every bend.
