Notes
Dangers: Fold-bleed is high and concentrated in the deepest worked levels (the cult-of-the-Drift labourers call it 'the Old Dark'); mine-collapse; sealed-bulkhead breach events from below; a fast-deteriorating food and discipline situation among the indentured.
Hooks: Drift has announced a thirty-percent reduction in food-ration allocation to the deep mines; the indentured miners are refusing to descend; the clan's enforcers are going down instead and the situation is going to get worse., An Akraan ruin-site has been breached by a deep-mining crew at the lowest worked level; the clan has sealed the level but something is coming up through the sealed bulkheads and the sealers are not talking., A rogue psion is reported to be sheltering in the Lhassa derelict town on the surface; clan Korr-Venn is offering a bounty; the Legion is offering a separate, larger bounty; the psion is preaching to whoever will listen.
Lore: Korr-Venn is what raw extraction looks like when no-one is watching. The world is rich in heavy and rare earths, the clan that holds it is small and broke, and the lease that pays the clan's bills is held by Drift Logistics, who work the mines with indentured labour bought from across the Rim. The miners are drawn from everywhere the asset-machine produces surplus people: ex- hive underclass, debtors, ex-Ironball casualties, the unconnected, ex-Day-One true-believers who recanted, and anyone whose Kadiss record is bad enough that their indenture is cheaper than their passage home. The clan collects a cut, Drift runs the operation, and the mines go down. Fold-bleed is high, and gets worse with depth: the upper pits are functional, the middle pits are tense, the lower pits have started producing reports that Drift's site-managers do not file upward. Twelve worked levels, six of them sealed, and the seventh seal is failing. The clan's stronghold at Pit-Mouth is the only real town on the surface; everything else is derelict.
Notable: The Korr-Venn Pits (the deepest worked mines on the Rim, twelve kilometres down); the Worked Levels (twelve, descending, the lower six are sealed one by one as they are exhausted); the Clan Stronghold at Pit-Mouth (fortified surface town above the main shaft).
