Notes

Dangers: The mound's note has measurable effects on human sleep patterns - prolonged exposure untested., Xenosapient bands avoid the site; their behaviour around it is what first put it on human maps., It is not Akraan; whether it is connected to the Akraan is an open and contested question.

Hooks: The mound predates every human probe of Velanthi-IV by an unknown span - xenosapient or pre-xenosapient is not settled., The mound sings: a sub-audible note that does not match the Listening Shore's pattern, but does not contradict it either., A Kess-Two surface team went in for samples and came back one member lighter, with no memory of how or where.

Lore: The Quiet Mound is a low grass-covered hill on the western coast of Velanthi-IV's main continent. The mound is not human. It predates every human probe of the planet by an unknown span - xenosapient, pre-xenosapient, or something else is not settled. The mound sings: a sub-audible note that has been recorded and re-recorded and never localised to any source inside the mound. The xenosapient bands who live around the Listening Shore do not enter the perimeter marked by six standing stones, but they circle it, every tide, in silence. A Kess-Two surface team went in for samples and came back one member light, with no memory of how or where. The only sample that came out cleanly was a pollen - sealed, now in the Kess-Two vault, untested. Whether the mound is connected to the Akraan is an open question. Some on Kess-Two argue yes; the rest argue that the question itself is a kind of answer we have not earned.

Notable: The Note - sub-audible, recorded, never localised to a source inside the mound., Pollen samples preserved in the Kess-Two vault - the only sample brought out cleanly., Six standing stones at the perimeter; the xenosapient bands circle them but do not enter.
