Notes
Controlling Faction: Independent
Dangers: The jungle reclaims any cleared ground within three weeks; perimeters must be burned daily and the fire gives away positions at night., Fold incursion is statistically correlated with the lunar cycle; full moon weeks are duty-rotation hell and casualties double., The Anvil creed strains against the cartel officers who pay the camp's bills; open insubordination ends in stand-up executions at the flagpole.
Hooks: Run a recon team down the eastern tributaries to map which bends are Fold-bled enough to be skipped this dry season., Smuggle a fresh Navigator past the camp chaplain without the chaplain logging the visit; the Legion's Anvil discipline is watching., Recover a missing squad's dogtags from a bend where the camp's last supply run was ambushed by things that did not come from the trees.
Lore: Velt Camp is the Legion's forward base on Ghala Bend, kept alive by a marriage of convenience between Confed and the local cartel. The camp exists because the river exports a bio-reagent whose Rek price justifies the cost of holding one bend of jungle against whatever is using the other bends as cover. The Legion garrison rotates every six months because the Fold bleed on Ghala erodes cognitive baselines faster than the camp's psion-watch can compensate; soldiers here lose small things first (proper nouns, their children's faces), larger things later, and a tour that goes past nine months is a tour that does not always come back. The Anvil creed is what holds the camp together: every soldier here volunteered, no one was press-ganged, and that single fact is the difference between a functional forward base and the alternative, which is a Surikov PMC cohort that would not last a season. Velt Camp's chaplain is the only person on the planet who keeps a shrine; everyone else carries their dead in their head.
Notable: A cleared hilltop on the eastern tributaries of the Ghala river system, ringed with razor wire, watchtowers on stilts, and a triad of firebreaks that the camp burns nightly. Concrete barracks, a small medicae and a chapel that doubles as the only shrine on the planet to the Legion's Anvil creed.
