Coronet Ferrant
Heron-family bondholder on Halen's World, offering 1,500 rek a head for the Nightrider crew who drove twenty-three Ribbonbacks off a leaseholding, and 2,000 more for the fence-Station contact codes.
A half-Kith bondholder in a slate-grey field coat with the Heron bird-of-prey crest worked in white thread at the collar. Lean, polite, and well armed in a way that makes clear the sidearm is not for show.
The Heron family are Inner-world Family retainers. They own no LaGrange Cores of their own; they hold leaseholdings, contracts and the standing that comes of serving a Family that does. On the Rim that distinction is academic to everyone except the Herons, who feel it keenly.
A leaseholding forty miles upriver was hit on the night of the eighth. Twenty-three Ribbonbacks were driven into the high scrub. Heron outriders have read the herd trail east into the bluff country. Ferrant lays this out in numbers rather than grievance: 1,500 rek per Nightrider brought in, alive preferred and dead accepted, with 2,000 on top for the fence-Station contact codes.
He is backed on the ground by a Coronet-Hound named Vell and two Process Servers in mesh armour. Vell does not speak unless spoken to. The Process Servers do not speak at all.
Naming note. MOD-03 first called this man Coronet Lyon, which collided
with [[compendium/monster/mon-coronet-lyon|Coronet Lyon]]: an unrelated six-limbed gene-crafted apex predator
named for the coronet it wears. Two paragraphs of the same module used the
bare word Lyon for both the beast and the bondholder, so a reader could not
tell which one crest fire works on.
He was renamed rather than the beast. The beast is embedded in a Go threat map, two art manifests, the bestiary and the GM book; he existed in three files. Coronet remains his rank, which is what it always was.
