Debt Collector

A professional who collects debts that the legal system will not touch.

A Debt Collector is a professional enforcer who collects outstanding debts on behalf of criminal organisations, black- market lenders, and anyone else whose debts cannot be resolved through Confederation courts. They are not soldiers; they are specialists in applied intimidation. Their tools are pain, fear, and the understanding that the alternative to paying is worse.

A Collector is an elite social/combat encounter: they prefer to collect without violence (violence is expensive and damages the collateral), but they are more than capable of taking the debt out of the debtor's hide. The lever is the debt itself -- pay it, and the Collector leaves.

Notes

Full Attack: Debt Pistol ranged +7 (1d8+2 energy; range 40 ft) or Brass Knuckles melee +8 (1d6+3 bludgeoning) or Restraint Cuffs melee +7 (1d4+2 bludgeoning; DC 15 STR or restrained)

Habitat: Rim stations, frontier settlements, black markets, and anywhere debts are owed. Found at a debtor's door, in a cantina negotiating, or in a back room applying pressure. Roll 1d6: 1-2 = Collector at a debtor's door (polite, firm, inevitable), 3-4 = Collector in a cantina (watching, waiting), 5-6 = Collector applying pressure (back room, brass knuckles).

Morale: Elite (12); the Collector disengages when the debt is paid, voided, or when the cost of collection exceeds the debt's value

Resistances: Armoured coat (included in AC; reinforced for close-quarters work), Tracking implant (included in senses; always knows where the debtor is)

Tactics: The Collector leads with Debt Enforcement to establish dominance, uses Reputation to amplify the social pressure, and negotiates for payment. If the debtor resists, the Collector uses Pain Compliance and Collateral Seizure. The Collector prefers non- lethal resolution (dead debtors do not pay) but will escalate to lethal force if the debtor becomes a threat. The Collector fights to the debt's terms -- pay, and they leave.

Treasure: Debt pistol (300 rek), brass knuckles (50 rek), restraint cuffs (100 rek), armoured coat (400 rek), tracking implant (1,000 rek), debt datapad (contracts, debtor lists; 500-2,000 rek to the right buyer), 4d10 rek in collected debts, personal effects (a ledger, a pen, a photograph of someone who did not pay).

Vulnerabilities: Debt-dependent (the Collector's authority comes from the debt; if the debt is paid or voided, the Collector has no reason to fight), Non-lethal preference (the Collector does not want to kill the collateral; they will use non-lethal options unless the situation demands lethal force), Employer-dependent (the Collector works for someone; if the employer is taken down, the Collector loses their contract)

FieldValue
actionCostStandard
nameDebt Enforcement

description: The Collector presents the debt to one creature within 30 ft. The target must make a DC 15 Will save or be Shaken for 1d4 rounds (the weight of the debt is real).
