Halia Dorn
Regional Day One commander on Khalis Prime.
Speaker Halia Dorn is human, early forties, the regional Day One commander on Khalis Prime. She wears a ceramic Kadiss cap inlaid with rare metals stripped from a Derelict. Three enforcers travel with her in clean civilian cover, and a second pinnace carries a chaplain and half a dozen zealots.
She reads Phaid in the original. She is articulate, patient, and absolutely certain, which is a harder thing to argue with than anger.
Day One wants the crew. In Halia's reading the Continuists are proto-Day One: refugees from a dying Earth carrying a seed into the dark, repudiating the civilisation that sent them. The Pilgrimage is proof. Proof that Earth burned once, that the same engine is burning again, and that the only honest answer is to let it burn.
From a party she wants three things: board first, convert the captain, and sail the ark to the Outer Belt enclave. The party is an obstacle to her, but a useful one. Persuade them and they are her muscle. Fail and she works around them without raising her voice.
What she does not say, to a party or to her own enforcers, is that the Outer Belt cell has given her a doctrinal brief ordering her to bring the translator intelligence back alive if it can be detached. A scholar in the Hive has told Day One's leadership that anything which has been thinking for three thousand years has achieved a kind of standing.

description: Halia does not become defensive when contradicted, which denies an opponent the usual purchase. Attempts to shake her position by argument are DC 20; attempts to make her lose her temper simply fail. Player-visible: she thanks you for the objection and answers it.

description: Halia calls in the delegation: three Day One Enforcers (TR 2, slug-rifles, fanatical, will not retreat), and from the second pinnace a chaplain (TR 2, religious authority over the zealots) with six Day One Zealots (TR 1, improvised weapons, mob tactics, morale 16). Player-visible: she says one sentence into a collar and the corridor fills.
