Void-Trucker

A long-haul freighter crew member, Independent or under contract, who moves bulk cargo across sectors for rek-per-tonne.

Void-truckers live in transit. They pilot mid-bulk haulers, container corvettes, and ore tenders between Stations, moons, and yards. The work is slow, repetitive, and lonely. A good trucker knows every freight broker, every customs form, and every dock-master's bad mood. A great trucker knows which cargo not to ask about. The pay is regular and the walls of the bunkroom are very close.

FieldValue
Archetype Combinations / AcademicAwkward fit. The trucker is anti-book; the Academic can study cargo rather than theory.
Archetype Combinations / ChaplainAwkward fit. Long-haul chaplains exist but are usually contracted at the destination, not the origin.
Archetype Combinations / FaceWorkable fit. The trucker's broker list is a Face's natural prospect book.
Archetype Combinations / OfficerWorkable fit. Officer's authority can commandeer a hauler in extremis; the trucker appreciates the paperwork.
Archetype Combinations / OperativeGood fit. Truckers know every cargo that crosses the manifest; the Operative turns that knowledge into intelligence.
Archetype Combinations / PsionWorkable fit. Long-haul psions are rare; the trucker-psion reads passengers before they read the trucker.
Archetype Combinations / SawbonesWorkable fit. Sawbones plus trucker becomes the ship's doctor; ships always need one.
Archetype Combinations / ScoutBest fit. Scout chassis plus trucker instinct produces a long-range operator who survives by knowing the lane.
Archetype Combinations / SoldierGood fit. Many haulers carry a marine escort; the Soldier is the escort that knows the cargo.

Notes

Background Trait / Cause: Because the trucker has memorised the lane and the lane has accepted the trucker; deep void is its own rhythm, and rhythm is the trucker's only company.

Background Trait / Effect: +2 circumstance bonus to Pilot checks made on a charted trade lane the character has flown at least three times. After one full week of continuous void transit, +1 circumstance bonus to all d20 rolls for the remainder of the voyage (lost if the character spends more than 24 hours on a planet or station).

Social Hook: Truckers talk ships. They ask about displacement, fuel mix, and lane congestion before they ask names. They know which station welcomes crews, which penalises late arrivals, and which one docks you in the shadow of the cargo scanner for an hour. They are loyal to their own kind and polite to anyone else.

Starting Gear: Pilot's jacket (treated as light clothing; +1 to reaction rolls with dock crews and freight brokers), Multi-tool (compact; covers Mechanics, Repair, and basic Demolitions), Shipboard sidearm (ITEM-STUN-BATON or low-yield slug pistol; non-lethal is preferred), Shipboard rations, sealed, 2 weeks supply, Cargo manifest chit (legit; one cargo lot of GM choice currently consigned), Spare parts kit (vac-seal; one repair attempt per long rest without rolling for parts), Trade lane binder (handwritten; lists ten brokers, ten dock masters, and the customary bribe for each), Rek chip, 400 rek balance
