Augmetics

Install, tune, and repair cyberware and neural interfaces.

Augmetics is the specialist trade where flesh meets chrome. It covers seating a cyber-limb so the nerve-lace actually fires, calibrating a neural interface so the user does not seize when they jack in, suppressing the immune storm of implant rejection, and the delicate, dangerous work of cutting a locked or sabotaged augment out of a living body. Where Medicine treats the meat and Mechanics fits the hardware, Augmetics is the seam between them -- the only skill that makes a graft feel like a hand instead of a tool bolted to a stump. Back-alley chop-docs and corporate augmetic surgeons run the same checks; only the DC of the chrome they are asked to seat differs. Rejection is the constant enemy: the body remembers it was whole.

Notes

Special: Failure by 5+ on install/extraction deals 1d6 damage and +1 rejection point. Requires surgery kit or augmetic bench, else +5 to all DCs.

Special: A failed install or extraction by 5 or more inflicts 1d6 damage and adds 1 rejection point to the patient. Augmetics requires a surgery kit or augmetic bench; without one, all DCs rise by 5. The Surgeon feat grants +2 to rejection-suppression and extraction checks.

Untrained: An untrained character can swap a pre-tuned, plug-and-play module (a marked cartridge augment) at DC 15, and nothing harder. Any attempt to install, tune, or extract real chrome untrained automatically fails and inflicts 1d6 damage and 1 rejection point on the patient. This is how people die on chop-shop tables.
