Disguise

Alter appearance, impersonate roles or specific persons.

Disguise covers minor appearance alteration, passing as a generic type, impersonating roles or uniforms, impersonating specific persons, building deep-cover identities, and fooling people who know the target. The infiltrator who walks a corpsec corridor in a stolen uniform, the con-man who changes his face and gait between cities, the deep-cover agent who lives a name for years. Where Deception lies with the mouth and Forgery lies with the hand, Disguise lies with the whole body -- voice, bearing, gait, face. Opposed by onlooker's Perception and Insight. Requires a kit and 1d4 x 10 minutes prep. Failure by 5+ against an active observer burns the cover.

Notes

Special: Opposed by onlooker's Perception (visual) and Insight (behavioral). Disguise kit required for trained-tier work, else +5 to DCs. Prep 1d4 x 10 minutes. Failure by 5+ vs active observer burns the cover.

Untrained Use: Generic alteration only at listed DCs; active Perception/Insight checks auto-defeat untrained role or specific-person work.

Special: Disguise is opposed by an onlooker's Perception (visual read) and Insight (behavioral read). A disguise kit is required for trained-tier work; without one, all DCs rise by 5. Prep time is 1d4 x 10 minutes. Failure by 5+ against an active observer is treated as a burn: the cover is gone and the observer reacts.

Untrained: Anyone can throw on a hat and change a coat at the listed DCs for generic alteration. Untrained Disguise fails automatically against any observer making an active Perception check, and against any role or specific-person impersonation.
