Notes
Adventure Hooks: A friend or contact has joined Haven and stopped responding to messages. The party is asked to visit and assess whether they are safe or trapped., Sister Maera hires the party to transport a sealed cargo pod from a Rim world to Haven. The pod is warm to the touch and hums faintly. She says it is supplies. It is not supplies., A Confederation intelligence officer wants the party to infiltrate Haven and determine whether the gene-clinic is identifying Fold-sensitive individuals for recruitment., The Voice in the meditation chamber is real -- a Fold entity feeding on devotion. The party must decide whether to expose it (destroying the commune) or bargain with it (gaining a dangerous ally).
Crawl Notes: The sealed meditation chamber and the lower levels where the gene-clinic operates are a potential crawl: tight corridors, panicked residents, and a Fold-adjacent presence that distorts perception. Not the station's primary function but a strong escalation path.
Faction Id: Day One
Lore: Haven drifts in a quiet orbit around a gas giant in the outer Harlan system, far from Confederation patrols and Kadiss-grid coverage. From the outside it is unremarkable: a converted cargo station, old but maintained, broadcasting a welcoming transponder. Inside, it is a commune run by the Day One movement -- the creed of Phaid the Gambler, the doctrine that the verse is broken and must be reset to its first day. Refugees from hive worlds and Rim conflicts arrive weekly; Haven takes them in, feeds them, and teaches them the creed. The station's leader, a charismatic woman called Sister Maera, preaches patience and renewal. The deeper levels hold something else: a gene-clinic where volunteers are tested for psionic markers, and a sealed meditation chamber where Sister Maera communes with something she calls the Voice. Most residents are sincere. Some are Day One elites with a longer agenda. The Confederation considers Haven a recruiting front; the Families consider it a nuisance. Neither has moved against it yet.
