Legion Volunteer
Volunteered to be someone.
Born on a Confederation border world -- inner Rim, fringe Core, or the kind of colony that sits where the Legion recruitment posters actually get read. Volunteered at seventeen or eighteen for one of the few real ladders a Rim-class citizen can climb. Took the oath, took the Anvil creed, served a tour or two. They leave the Legion by end-of-contract, by medical discharge, by honourable release with the Anvil tattoo -- or by court-martial and a quiet one-way ticket. Citizenship and a Kadiss tier upgrade are part of the deal, when the deal is honoured.

Notes
Background Trait / Effect: +2 bonus to Intimidation checks against any target that recognises the Anvil tattoo or Legion field-gear. Once per session, the character may designate one NPC ally as 'squad-mate'; that ally gains +2 to attack rolls and morale checks while within 30 feet. The character is flagged in Legion archives; one roll per session, if a Legion officer is present and engaged, the GM may invoke a Legion recall -- the character must make a Will save (DC 14) or be ordered back to active duty for the duration of the crisis.
Social Hook: The volunteer has bled for the suit on the other end of a comm channel and knows what brotherhood is. They have a tattoo that opens doors and closes them. They can field-strip a rifle in the dark and recognise a Legion officer by the cut of the uniform. They owe the Legion a tour, and the Legion is short-staffed enough to call the marker in.
Starting Gear: Legion service ID (Confed-issued, veteran tier-up applied), Standard-issue carbine (ITEM-PLASMA-CARBINE Confed-marked), Combat knife (ITEM-MILITARY-KNIFE), Light flak vest (Confed-issue), Helmet (Confed-issue), Three reloads, Rek chip with starting balance of 1200, Anvil tattoo (visible on neck or forearm; admission, intimidation, recognition), Discharge papers (one copy; legal proof of veteran tier and citizenship), Field med-kit (one use: stabilise a dying ally, restore 1d6 HP)
