Legion Veteran

A discharged trooper of the Void Legion, trained for boarding actions, line engagements, and pacification sweeps.

The Void Legion is the Confederation's expeditionary force. Veterans signed a term, served it, and came home with a discharge docket, a record, and a set of habits that do not switch off. They know how to clear a corridor, talk to a gunnery sergeant, and sleep anywhere. They also know how the Legion thinks, which makes them useful to ex-military fixers and uncomfortable to current officers.

Rules Reference

FieldValue
Archetype Combinations / AcademicAwkward fit. The Legion teaches doctrine, not theory.
Archetype Combinations / ChaplainAwkward fit. Legion chaplains exist but the rank-and-file veteran is usually outside that chain.
Archetype Combinations / FaceWorkable fit. The veteran can play the ex-soldier card but is not a natural negotiator.
Archetype Combinations / OfficerBest fit. Officer's discipline plus Legion command training is a coherent package.
Archetype Combinations / OperativeGood fit. Legion tradecraft plus Operative skills makes a capable infiltrator on military targets.
Archetype Combinations / PsionWorkable fit. Legion psions are a small and suspicious community; the veteran knows to mind their back.
Archetype Combinations / SawbonesAwkward fit. Field medics are common in the Legion, but a Sawbones walks a different path.
Archetype Combinations / ScoutWorkable fit. Gunnery and field fitness extend the Scout's range.
Archetype Combinations / SoldierNatural fit. Gunnery ranks, military posture, and the Legion's preferred tactics map directly onto Soldier chassis.

Notes

Background Trait / Effect: +2 Intimidation bonus against any currently-serving Void Legion member. May invoke the Legion name once per long rest to obtain free barracks lodging and access to a Legion quartermaster at standard price. The character cannot be legally re-drafted into the Legion.

Social Hook: Veterans recognise each other in a crowd; the way a person holds a weapon, the way they stand at a door, the way they order a drink. Current Legion treats them with wary respect. Confed civilians read the dress uniform and look away. The veteran has learned to drop the posture in polite company and to put it back on in a hurry.

Starting Gear: Service slug pistol (ITEM-slug pistol-PISTOL), demilled but field-fixable, Dress uniform, pressed, with service ribbon rack, Void Legion dog tags (still magnetically readable at Legion checkpoints), Military-issue medkit (3 uses; heals 1d8+2 with Medicine DC 10), Back-pay stipend chip (300 rek balance), Terminal access chip (limited: read-only on Legion personnel and logistics databases), Field knife (ITEM-COMBAT-KNIFE)
